Summary: 10 years since the great war, tensions were mounting within the country of Wellber, which was barely capable of keeping peace, as war could commence at any time with its neighboring country, Sangatras. In order to avoid warfare, the king of Wellber, Haidel planned on marrying off his daughter, Princess Rita, to Sangatras' Prince Guernia.

However, Rita stabbed her groom to be and ran away. Infuriated, Sangatras' King Ranbahnhof threatens to wage war unless Rita is captured and publicly executed within 14 days. In order to avoid the worst case scenario, Rita decides to head for the neutral country of Greedom.

Meanwhile, the woman thief Tina sneaks into Castle Wellber, seeking its treasures, when she happens to witness the stabbing of Guernia by Rita.
Whether it be by coincidence or necessity, Tina receives information that the "Wasp Man" she was after is in Greedom, her sworn enemy who took the life of her parents.

Tina agrees to become Rita's bodyguard as they head out to Greedom. Shouldering their fate and destiny, the two meet, leave, and set out on their journey. What awaits them is war or peace, vengeance or death...

Damn, the picture I posted above somehow makes reviewing a task that requires pride, don't ask me why. Sisters of Wellber is a show forgotten by time. Even though you can't call it old school since we speak about a 2007 production, it seems that it was not capable of acquiring a fan-base which is a shame. I sort of agree that is not everyone's cup of tea, however it is not something that provokes hatred and disgust either. I view this show as an undiscovered gem and the least I can do is pay my respects towards it and the authors and producers who worked their butt to make this show.

It has many similarities with Scrapped Princess, given the fact that it has the same circumstances. A princess, in this case Rita Sior was forced to marry the prince of Sangatras in order to maintain peace between Wellber and the already mentioned kingdom. However on the night of her betrothal she stabs her groom and because of an access of fury, the king of Sangatras places a bounty on her head and also a time limit. She must be captured and killed in 14 days otherwise a new war will strike.

Rita's father left without a choice accepted these conditions but behind the curtains he tried to keep Rita out of trouble by sending his most trusted and capable man in order to protect her. Problems arise, as the soldier is wounded in combat and Rita decides to deliver an alliance treaty to the kingdom of Greedom so that Wellber could withstand a war with Sangatras.

Helped by her companions, Tina Lothar, a thief that has a huge bounty on her head, but a person that will not prove to be the villain that Rita thought, Sherri, a fairy that accompanies Tina and Gyrano de Borgerac a war machine she will face all obstacles ahead of her in her quest to deliver the treaty before the deadline expires.

The plot is simple, the presentation is done well and it is not something that you can call sophisticated, it is a rather heart-warming show. It has it's own good moments, it does not lack action sequences and it shines especially through the personalities of the main leads. Probably the main reason why this show was left in the shadow was because of it's way too overused plot and it's simplistic way of presenting the events. What amazed me the most was actually that it got a second season, so I assume that it might've had some short length success in Japan.

Now, if I were to be subjective, I might give this show a lot more than it deserves. I agree that for me was a delighting experience but in essence this show is not something that could impress or surprise easily. Probably I liked it so much because of it's references with Scrapped Princess which stands even today as one of my favorites.

I recommend this show to a more younger audience, I am pretty sure that they might appreciate more this one than the older audience. More experience anime fans might also find something interesting in it. Even though it is presented in a very simplistic manner, it has a bit of everything. Worth a watch!

Animation-wise, for a 2007 production it lives to its own expectations. While the production company is not very well known and nor the ones that were responsible for the animation works, I say that it is quite a performance. Sound-wise, nothing that sparks you attention, I admired it for the harmony that the sound produces with the setting and the atmosphere of the show.
